The Loreverse: Umbarias, Loremistress of Shadow

“Thou art Umbarias, The Holy Undertaker, Dancer, Weaver, and Judge of The Dead. You shall be The Patron Saint of Undertaking, Dancing, Courage, Sewing, Prophecy and Empathy. You shall weave the night sky and bead them with stars and your shadows shall conceal the righteous and innocent from the wicked. You shall judge the dead and bring the innocent and righteous home to Paradisio and comfort those who mourn their passing like the gentle moonlight. You shall inspire courage to those who face their fears, and you shall bring my word to my prophets”-Omnibus

With hair like stars in the night sky and eyes like the moon, dressed in purple, black, and silver, Umbarias The Loremistress of Shadow is one of the Six Cherubim, wife of Solarax, and Embodiment of the world Nokenpad and the element of Shadow which conceals, shrouds, and shields. Solarax takes on the likeness of a woman dressed in clothes best described like a Romani Fortune Teller with a veil hiding her lips which are said to be pure silver, only allowing them to be seen and kissed by her husband.

Compassionate, soft spoken, and somewhat seductive and flirtatious, Umbarias uses her power through dances and weaving. She also carries out Omnibus’s judgements over the moral dead and provides comfort to souls that are passing and those who mourn as well as whispering Omnibus’ prophecies to The Loresages.

However when it comes to prophecies in other worlds, she also needs aid of her fellow Creati and often needs assistance when guiding departed souls of worlds outside her own as well. Her other ability is her very being is like a spinning wheel, her dances are what spins the threads of the night sky and bead them with stars. Her last ability is she can see wherever shadows are cast and often uses the shadows of the Deo Electi to track and report their progress.

In the world Nokenpad she is known as Mother Midnight and it is said when the wicked act on their evil desires, they get a haunting feeling creeping up behind their back only to look at the shadows to find countless of silver piercing glares. When one is mourning, she will manifest to the mourner’s shadow to embrace and comfort them, whispering words of comfort into their ears, and often appears to a mortal’s moment of death to retrieve their soul to swaddle in her robes as she brings them home.

She loves to tease and flirt her husband, often using her dances and/or seductive glances

Animals that she is associated with by mortals are foxes, bats, and spiders

Her inspiration comes from The Zorya Sisters of Slavic Myth along with the Valar Varda(with her roles deriving from bits of Mandos, his wife Vairë, and Nesse), Morticia Addams(notably Anjelica Hutson), Esmeralda from Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Ahri from League of Legends, and La Muerte from The Book of Life.

The Loreverse: Solarax, The Loremaster of Fire

“Thou art Solarax, The Holy Smith and Architect, and Loremaster of Fire. Thou shall be the Patron Saint of Passion, Music, Smithery, Masonry, and Architecture. Thous shall craft the weapons of my Deo Electi, you shall be a radiant example to metalworkers, builders, and musicians. Your joyous zeal will be like a blazing sun and shall inspire mortals with your powerful songs.”-Omnibus

With hair like glowing black coals and eyes like the sun, and clothed in maroon, gold, and brown, Solarax The Loremaster of Fire is one of the Six Cherubim, and the Embodiment of the world Decotropolis and the element of Fire which helps crafts, melts, burns, fuels, and purifies. He is also The Loreverse’s Patron Saint of Musicians, Architechs, Masons, Metalsmiths, and Ironworkers. Solarax takes on the likeness of a cross between a Blacksmith and Roaring 20s New York Dandy

Passionate, merry, and ingenious, Solarax works with a bright smile on his face. Solarax sings while he works, crafting weapons for the Deo Electi, creating sketches for architecture for the inspiri to teach mortals for various worlds who in turn are inspired to create their own works, or conducting his orchestra of Inspiri to play songs written by mortals.

What makes Solarax different from the others is he seems to hum to himself and writing down songs, doodling designs for weapons, and architecture. Also when it comes to music, it requires him to work with the others when it comes to creating hymns of respective worlds. Alone, Solarax can only create types of Jazz, he must work with his other Creati in order to create different forms of music

With his wife Umbarias, he can create Classical Crossover music

With Fulgrom, he can create Eurobeat

With Aquitas, he can creates Oriental music

With Silvine, he can create Celtic Rock

With Ventix he creates Country

Not only that, when it comes to making weapons suited for Deo Electi, he requires essence of other elements provided by his fellow Creati

Now in his world he has a nickname that passed around in legends known as Smokey Joe and he likes to manifest vague images of himself in fires from restaurants, foundries, or even fireplaces in homes of mortals and it is said when anywhere in the Loreverse musical instruments are played, they echo the sound of the Solarax’s hammer colliding with his anvil which is said to be a beautiful and passionate harmony of bells, gongs, cymbals, trumpets, organs, and other forms of music.

Now his love for his wife Umbarias is one that fuels his work as well, and often he shows affection by often embracing his beloved and peppering her with kisses. His love is like one described like a roaring flame and searing desire.

Animals that he is often associated by mortals are wolves, lions, and condors

For his inspiration for being an embodiment of fire and smith, I took inspiration from Svarog the Slavic God of Smithery but his other influences are Gomez Addams(notably John Astin and Raul Julia) and Cab Calloway

The Loreverse: Aetherius, Loremaster of Aether

“Thou art Aetherius, The Divine Fool, The Holy Harlequin, Loremaster of Aether and Seraph of The Creati, thou shalt be the Patron Saint of mirth, tricksters, laughter, optimism and humor. When Evil is law, thou shalt be a trickster unto them, when Good is law, thou shalt be a Lawman, thou art mighty as your brother was in his former glory, and thou shall deliver my word to your kin”-Omnibus

With brilliant wings of six and donning the appearance of a jester with brilliant colors of orange, brown, and white, and wielding a scepter of pure ivory, Aetherius The Loremaster of Aether is the Seraph(Leader) of the Creati and one of the 7 rulers of Avalon and was created along with his brother Netherius before he fell, was created to be the embodiment of Aether, the element that begets and masters over the other six. He is also the Loreverse’s patron saint of comedy, laughter, mirth, optimism, and trickery

Aetherius as the Seraph is the one who personally receives word from Omnibus of what actions to take and relays word to his fellow Creati who then instruct the Inspiri.

Witty, clever, and hopeful, Aetherius when not busy governing Avalon or conversing with his cohorts, sends an avatar of himself to explore the worlds of Lore and bring good luck to good people whoever crosses his path. Often appearing as an dancing orange apparition following with the sound of ghostly jingles and laughter, often serving as a harbinger of eucatastrophe in a conflict.

The unique thing about Aetherius is his tripartite archetypal nature, he is a trickster, a detective, and a frontiersman. When the wicked and cruel are in power, Aetherius acts as a trickster to break the shackles put upon the worlds by the reign of tyrants, then he acts as a lawman/detective in restoring the intended boundaries and thus restoring that world to its rightful state of glory, and a frontiersman to maintain that state of glory to keep the peace. Now his cohorts share these traits as well, but some characteristic are more predominant than others depending on the nature of that world. One example is Ventix and the Western-Fantasy world Range he oversees and embodies, they are more of a dual nature of trickster and frontiersman over detective, or Solarax and Decotropolis as they are mostly detective in nature than trickster and frontiersman.

Now Aetherius does have a wife, who I am still trying to conceptualize, but unlike the others, she is not a Creati but in fact an Inspiri. For Omnibus told him he too was meant to have an significant other from a humbler beginning to replace his brother’s spot “For Six become Three, and One becomes Two, and thus Seven becomes Five and balance is maintained, this is the way of Lore.” as Omnibus decrees “And only the truly humble and faithful can be wed to the divine, that too is the way of Lore.” So Aetherius looked in Avalon to find among the Inspiri one who would be faithful to him, as he would be faithful to her, and found one, a woman who laughed as his jokes and felt a connection with him and thus became his wife.

He goes by many names in the worlds of Lore, The Jester of Justice, The Orange Imp, The Snickering Spark, The Righteous Rodeo Clown, The Tittering Toon, The Cackling Klabautermann, and of course The Lord of Jesters and Jester of Lords

My primary inspiration for him came from the Slavic god of Light and Goodness, Belobog, and followed Manwe Sulimno from Tolkien’s Legendarium, the stock character Harlequin and St. Michael the Archangel

Mostly because tricksters seem to be used as the harbringers of tragedy and misery, there seems to be very little stories where they bring fortune to the innocent and righteous. So I decided to create one as a response.

The Loreverse: Introduction to the Creati

“Lo and behold, you are the holy embodiment of the elements, paragons of virtue and patron lords and ladies of my worlds, as I used you to create them. As you and your servants, The Inspiri, guide the mortals bellow, they shall ascend to glory and wield powers you give unto them, made from the power which I had given unto you”-Omnibus

The Creati(Individually Creatus) are the “Top Brass” so to speak, they are the holy personifications of the elements of the Loreverse as well as the sub-creators of this multiverse. Most inspiration of them come from Tolkien’s Valar but also like them, they are not gods. Like the Valar, they can create constructs, but they lack the ability to truly create something outside the assistance of Omnibus who can breathe life into them. They are basically living instruments Omnibus uses to create and govern the Loreverse.

The realm Avalon is also a lot like Valinor, a dwelling place for both the Creati and Inspiri which they overlook the progress of the mortal realms of Lore and only intervene as subtly as possible in order not to harm the free will and autonomy of the worlds and the souls that inhabit them. This is why they were sent the Inspiri down to establish holy orders, to connect and guide these worlds in a way that is not forced or contrived. “Good things come from within not without” Omnibus had decreed “We teach, not force. This is the way of Lore”

Now there are Seven Creati, “For Seven shall be the number of Luck and Balance” Omnibus had decreed “Three on one side, Three on another, and One in the middle to hold both in place, this is the way of Lore.”

Now among the Creati there is the Seraph, Aetherius, who serves as the leader of the Creati ambassador and consort Omnibus, he personally ascends to Paradiso to recieve word from the mouth of Omnibus and delievers it to his peers, as well as serving as a regulator of the six other elements of the Loreverse, Fire, Water, Air, Thunder, Forest, and Shadow, with his own, Aether. As a Seraph, he is blessed with Six Wings.

Now the six other Creati are Cherubim, they stay strictly in Avalon and each serves a unique purpose, however all of the seven worlds were created in a way that in uniquely theirs along with their leader, thus the element and characteristics each world may be predominant over depending on the realm and to which Creatus that world is overseen by. They are blessed with wings of four.

Now the Creati are paragons of virtue, the highest aspirational beings next to Omnibus himself, as such they are the epitome of the Four Loves, they all are equal in amount, but each aspect is unique than the others

Storge(affection)-The Creati adore all of the Loreverse, every world, with unrelenting love. The type of love that parents have for their children, or siblings have for each other, or the love animals in a pack feel for each other. They helped Omnibus will these worlds into existence, and and grateful that Omnibus created each world in the likeness of each specific Creati, and are also admiring of each other’s worlds. And they have endless compassion for each soul upon these worlds, just as Omnibus has, and have endless affection for the Inspiri who look up to them and serve them.

Philia(Friendship)-The kinship that the Creati have with each other is the ideal friendship that is not bound by many restraints that mortal races might have, and they endless enjoy each others company and the company of others, it is this fellowship the Deo Electi are modeled after

Eros(Romance)-Now the married lives of the Creati are ones that are also ideal, they absolutely love each other selflessly, always putting their significant other before themselves, supportive in each other, as well infinite in affection in what I call the Five Types of Romance which I will go into another post. They are grateful that Omnibus created this bond between them and they celebrate it in any form possible.

Agape(Unconditional)-Collectively they are embodiment of love for every effort they make is in the intent of helping the souls living and dead find salvation and salvation for their civilizations, for they know every soul has the right to dignity and every world has the right to their full potential

Now for my next post, I will go into first the highest and leader of the Creati, Aetherius The Holy Fool and Loremaster of Aether
